Stitch Fix Experience

Hey there! This weekend I received my fourth fix from Stitch Fix. When I first discovered Stitch Fix, I was a little skeptical of somebody else picking out my clothing, because I think I am entirely too picky. Once upon a time I loved shopping. Today, it’s just not happening. My clothes shopping is currently limited to Carter’s. And my current shop time is, at maximum, fifteen minutes. So to have a box packed full of personalized clothing show up at my front door is spectacular. And a little like Christmas. Here’s how it works (in a nutshell): Sign up for an account here: Stitch Fix  Fill out your style profile (see tips below) and select a ship date. On or around […]

Loaded Breakfast Casserole-gluten free, packed with veggies, mouthwatering breakfast |sneaksandsweets|

Managing the Morning Rush

OK, seriously. Who wouldn’t want to wake up to that? For those of you out there that don’t eat breakfast, I don’t know how you do it. I pretty much go to bed thinking about breakfast. I actually pretty much think about my next meal, always. When I wake up, I immediately head to the kitchen because I’m beside myself with hunger. There’s a surprise. Usually this involves several pans, some cracking of eggs, figuring out what to put with it, and washing the dishes. Who has time for that in the morning? I will notoriously rush around in the morning for the sake of a good breakfast. It’s nuts, really. And that’s why I started making this. This has […]

Cardio and Core HIIT workout -no equiptment needed |sneaksandsweets|

Cardio and Core Workout

Here’s a HIIT workout that I’ve designed for myself that burns fat and tones your core. It’s my new go-to workout. Reasons I love this workout: ~no equipment needed ~30 minutes from start to finish ~fast pace so I don’t get bored ~can be completed with or around a busy toddler (I get out a little mat for Julianna and she loves trying to copy exercises.) Before you begin, I suggest getting an interval timer app on your phone or tablet. I’ve had success using the Seconds HIIT Interval Timer from Google Play. It has a FREE version and is easy to use. You can customize your workouts to include warm-up, intervals with rest times, and cool downs. A tone […]

Orange Jam

Orange Jam

I love making jam.  Strawberry jam, blueberry jam, peach jam…I’ve even made garlic jam. I often like to admire my collection of homemade jams and jellies, tucked away neatly in my pantry. Weird, I know. I am fairly confident that if we were ever stranded at our house without food, we could at least live off of the stuff. Ha! Jam is amazing for several reasons. You can serve it along with scrumptious bread and scones for a weekend breakfast. Or on muffins, or between cookies, or as marinade for meat, or…You can also give it away as a homemade gift. If you’re on my list, you usually end up with a jar or two. Those jars usually end up […]

Half Moon Cookies

Half Moons

Hey there! Let me just start by saying, YUM.  Half Moon Cookies. Not at all to be confused with black and white cookies.  Unlike black and white cookies, these cookies are chocolate and cakey. Unlike black and white cookies, these cookies are piled high with chocolate fudge and fluffy vanilla buttercream frosting.  And unlike black and white cookies, these cookies are absolutely, fantastically, DELICIOUS. OK-scratch that, black and white cookies are probably delicious, too. But it’s hard to compete with this recipe. I’ve had this recipe tucked in my recipe box forever. It’s an absolute favorite of mine. And it makes an impressive, crowd pleasing cookie. Actually it makes around 40 large cookies…so a crowd is needed indeed! Oooooor not […]

Craving Sunshine

It’s about that time of year. Ba-humbug to being cold. The winter weather can seriously take a hike. Amidst the planning of our new garden and ordering of fruit trees, I am seriously longing for some sunshine. February, upstate NY, not likely. We really haven’t had a real winter. I think that it maybe snowed once. In fact, we haven’t had a snow day at all this year. I don’t know if that has ever happened in the history of NY winters. After a statement like that, I have surely jinxed us with a March full of snow. (I apologize in advance to those who live here.) So what’s a girl who is craving sunshine do? Bake a cake. Psssh! It is the most […]

A Year of Baby

A Year of Baby

Whoa. Where have I been??? Only because it’s too cold to be outside, am I sitting on the computer noticing that my last post was about summery blueberry muffins. It’s November. Eeek! I wanted to share a fun little idea that has been stashed on my computer for entirely too long. At Julianna’s first doctor appointment, it was recommended that I take her picture next to the same object each month as a fun way to track her growth. I am so thankful that I did! Now I will forever have proof of her tiny cuteness. Each month we’d roll out the handmade family quilt and Raggedy Ann (who was selectively chosen to be Julianna’s year long companion). The first […]

Celebrating a Year

Our sweet Julianna is officially one!  We celebrated this past weekend with family.   Birthdays are kind of a big deal in our family. We celebrate everybody’s birthday and let me tell you, we sure know how to celebrate! Lots of delicious food, an always homemade cake, and family.   Being one, however, is a milestone that deserves an extra pinch of fancified festivities, don’t cha think?-who am I kidding? Julianna is most likely going to have some pretty spectacular birthdays for many years to come.   This year we celebrated in style. Pink style.   Pink puffs…   Pink candies…   Pink straws… Pink flowers…   Pink everything. Including her cake. Yes-that is HER cake (the bigger one behind […]

A Year Later

It was about this time last year that I began nesting.   And when I say nesting…I don’t mean cleaning and organizing every corner of my home. Naturally, I was stocking my freezer and baking up a storm. Perhaps I was just worried that once the baby arrived I wouldn’t have time…but I am pretty sure this was just my unusual way of preparing for our new life.     A week before Julianna arrived I spent a glorious spring afternoon rolling, filling, and pressing over 80 pierogies. Matt couldn’t help but find it all a bit entertaining. But let me tell you-this pierogi stockpile was one of the smartest things I ended up doing! With my freezer filled with […]
